The Life of Mrs. Dorothy Sebastian

Dorothy Sebastian (nee: McDaniel), 82 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, went home to be with her Lord and Savior November 24, 2022, at her home. 

Dorothy was born February 16, 1940, in Perry County, KY, where she was raised. Since 1961 she has made her home in Lorain, Ohio. 

Dorothy had a deep love for the Lord which blossomed into a love of people. Dorothy never met a stranger. She served her community by serving in her church as a member for over 50 years, offering hospitality as a helper in the church camp kitchen, as bus captain in the church bus ministry, and as a Sunday school teacher. Dorothy loved to be outdoors and made walking three miles a day a lifetime discipline. Other interests included scrapbooking, quilting, and traveling with family and friends to see God's creation, like Pigeon Forge, TN. Her greatest joy in life was her family and served them with a deep love and commitment till the Lord called her home. 

Survivors include her sons, Sam Sebastian, Jr. of Lorain, Tim Sebastian, Sr. (Danell) of Amherst; her daughters, Deborah Sue Carter (Clifford) of Deerfield, OH, Terry Lynn McGregor (Craig) of Amherst, Barb Chester (Tom) of Lorain and Marie Sparks (Michael) of Vermilion; twenty-one grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty three years, Sam Sebastian on June 5, 2019; by her siblings, Aster, George, Johnny and Dora; parents, Coy and Ethel McDaniel (nee Adams).

Friends may call Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. Broadway Assembly Church 5495 Broadway, Lorain, Ohio 44052. The Rev. Matthew Jones will officiate.

Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Ohio.
