The Life of Mrs. Darlene Gaia

Darlene Gaia, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 21, 2022 at her home in Lorain, OH with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Peachtree, WV to her loving parents, James and Lillian (nee Webb) Cook on June 6, 1948.

Her family moved to Lorain, OH in 1962 where she remained a resident for the remainder of her life. Darlene was a graduate of Admiral King High School in 1966. She married the love of her life, John L. Gaia, on November 15, 1969. She attended Church of the Open Door in Elyria, enjoyed photography, cooking, bowling, watching baseball especially the Cleveland Indians, watching old movies, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John; daughter, Brianna; son, Jonathan; and grandson, Daniel.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillian Cook; sister, Nadine Yantko; and brother, James Howard Cook.

Darlene’s family will receive family and friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 28, 2022, Pastor Chuck Behrens, officiating.

Christian burial services will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp, OH.
