The Life of Mouy Guech Tan

Marlene Joanne (Gagliardi) Marchak, 86, of Delaware, Ohio passed away peacefully on October 2, 2022. Marlene was the daughter of the late Alfred and Agnes Gagliardi of Wallingford, Pennsylvania. Marlene was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 11, 1936. She graduated from Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, and then went on to earn a degree in English from Villanova University.

She began her career as an English Teacher at Westchester (PA) High School where she met her loving husband John P. Marchak, who said It was love at first sight. The family then moved to Portland, Connecticut and Alexandria, Virginia before settling in Upper Arlington, Ohio in 1978, where Marlene worked in Human Resources for multiple companies and where they lived for 44 years.

As the matriarch of our family, she was such a giving and selfless person. Her family and friends knew her as an incredible mother, loving grandmother, sibling and friend and an amazing cook with the best Sunday pasta and gravy as our favorite. She loved the beach and reading books and she brightened every room she entered, creating laughter and smiles for everyone.

Marlene was also devout member of St. Mark’s Episcopal church community in Upper Arlington, Ohio, and belonged to their dinner club with her many longtime friends of over 30+ years, and an active member at Source Point Senior Center, where she was avid Bridge player.

She is survived by her Husband of 59 years, John P. Marchak and her children John Marchak and Lucy Ambrosino, Lynne (Marchak) and Mostafa Rizk, Kristin (Marchak) and Steve Harder, Paul and Jenny Marchak and her six Grandchildren Benjamin Harder, Elise Harder, Jonathan Harder, Sofia Rizk, Sydney Ana Rizk, Sydney Grace Marchak and her siblings Carole Shea and Al and Lynn Gagliardi and other extended family. She will be missed and never forgotten by her family and many wonderful friends.

A public memorial service and celebration of her life will be held in Philadelphia at West Laurel Hill Cemetery Chapel, 225 Belmont Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004, at 11 AM on Saturday, November 26, 2022.
