The Life of Darryl Preston Young

Darryl Preston Young, 66, of Paola, Kansas, passed away on October 4, 2022. He was born on August 10, 1956, in Olathe, Kansas, to Charles and Peggy Young. He graduated high school in Sedalia, Missouri, and then moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he lived for 30 years, working for Crystal Water Company. He returned to his hometown upon retirement to be with his family and care for his aging parents. Darryl is preceded in death by his father, Charles Young, Sr. He is survived by his three children, Preston, Sherri, and Jonathon “Trey”; grand-children, Geoffrey, Trinitee, and Alissa; his mother, Peggy; and his siblings, Diana, Chuck, and Terresa. 
Darryl’s true passion in life was riding his Harley with friends - his extended family, doing charity runs, road trips, and enjoying any opportunity to ride. Darryl was also an avid sports fan. He and his mother, Peggy, planned their weekly schedule around all ball games involving the Chiefs, Cardinals, KU, or the Phoenix Suns. Darryl also had a love for grilling and barbequing. Known as the family grill master, every Sunday, he treated the family to his weekly special – grilled steaks,brats, chicken, or burgers. Darryl had never met a stranger. He was happy-go-lucky, charming, and funny. He was the life of the party, always keeping family and friends laughing and entertained. He will be greatly missed.

Join us for a celebration of life, Darryl style, Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at McGilley and FryeFuneral Home, 105 E Loula St., Olathe, KS 6606, 913-782-0582. Visitation from 12pm - 1pm with Funeral Service at 1 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
