The Life of Mrs. Madeline H. Spohn

Madeline H. (Heffner) Spohn, 93, of Lyon Station, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 8, 2022 in Willowbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Kutztown. She was the widow of Donald H. Spohn, who died on July 7, 1965.

 

Born in Richmond Township, Madeline was a daughter of the late Harvey H. and Verna (Readinger) Heffner. She was a member of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, Dryville, where she attended adult Sunday School and was an active volunteer. Madeline was an avid quilter and would volunteer her time at the Kutztown Folk Festival in the Quilt Barn, and also enjoyed gardening.

 

Mrs. Spohn is survived by her two sons, Scott A. Spohn, Lyons, and Stuart D., husband of Diane M. (Rohrbach) Spohn, Kutztown; three grandchildren, Janelle A. (Spohn), wife of Brandon Tunis, Clarks Summit, PA, Justin M. Spohn, Philadelphia, PA, and Jared B. Spohn, Kutztown; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Amelia Tunis; sisters, Marie (Heffner) Wessner, Topton and Jeanette (Heffner) Winkler, Fleetwood; and a brother: Paul Heffner, Portland, Tennessee.

 

In addition to her husband Donald and parents, Madeline was predeceased by sisters, Laila (Heffner) Fegely, Anna (Heffner) Henry and Gladys (Heffner) Reinert; and brothers, Fred Heffner, W. Russell Heffner, Monroe Heffner, and David Heffner.

 

A graveside service to celebrate and honor Madeline's life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Cemetery, 123 Church Lane, Kutztown, PA, with The Reverend Martin Milne officiating.

 

The family requests contributions be made in Madeline's memory to Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522.
