The Life of RICHARD HARRY MESSER

Richard Harry Messer, 88, was born November 6, 1933 in Des Moines, the son of Harry and Leona Messer. He passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Richard was a welder at the Ford Implement Plant in Des Moines for many years before transferring to Michigan where he eventually retired from the Ford Tractor Plant. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Richard is survived by his wife, Shirley Messer; children, Rick (Judy) Messer, Mick Messer and Vicky Messer; grandchildren, Hannah, Jasmin, Jessica, Jonathan and Quawna Messer; other loving relatives and many special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Michelle Messer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
