The Life of JOAN SORENSEN

Joan Sorensen, 85, passed away at home on August 4, 2022, in Des Moines, IA. A private graveside service is scheduled for Friday, August 12, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Joan Hall was born to Norman and Clara (Vertz) Hall on December 7, 1936, in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in Des Moines and graduated from North High School. In her early career she worked in sales and as an interior designer. In retirement she loved to spend time in her garden, feeding the birds and taking care of any stray animal that happened to show up for a free meal. She adopted many cats over the years. She loved spending time with her grandkids when they were growing up, birthdays and holidays were always special. She will be remembered for her caring attitude and always having a great sense of humor.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Clara; and her longtime companion Bud.

Joan is survived by her son Ben (Deanna) Sorensen, grandchildren Sarah, Laura and Ben Jr., and brothers Jim (Doris) Hall, Jack (Sally) Hall, niece Heather (Kevin) Hall/Floden, nephew Sean (Christine) Hall, extended family and friends, and her three furry cats Patches, Misty and Big Tom.

Memorial contributions for Joan Sorensen may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
