The Life of Clarence L. Hilbert

Clarence L. "Chub" Hilbert, 84, of Longswamp Township, died Wednesday, July 20, 2022, in The Lutheran Home at Topton. He was the husband of Patricia F. (Boyer) Hilbert. They were married May 6, 1961. Born in Topton, he was a son of the late Lester G. and Alice M. (Hertzog) Hilbert. Clarence honorably and faithfully served our country as member of the United States Air Force, during the Korean Conflict.
 
Clarence was employed over 30 years as a machinist at the former Doehler Jarvis Company, Pottstown. He then worked as a grounds keeper at Brookside Country Club of Allentown, Macungie, until his retirement in 2013.
 
Clarence was a member Macungie Veteran's of Foreign Wars; Ray A. Master Post 217 American Legion Topton; Alburtis, Mertztown, and Kutztown Gun Clubs, He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and golfing.
 
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Patricia, Clarence is survived by daughters, Tammy L. Gregory, companion of Grant A. Gregory, Emmaus; and Trishia F. Koch, Alburtis; a son, Kevin G., husband of Barbara G. (Kline) Hilbert, Douglassville. Other survivors include Sisters:  Patricia Roth, Fleetwood;  Fern Readinger, Oley; Shirley Ream, Kutztown; Marlene Diachynski, Barto, and Florabelle Christman, Tuckerton; Brothers: Melvin Hilbert, Lancaster County. There are six grandchildren: James, husband of Catherine (Young) Geist; Angela (Geist), wife of Jesse J. Markovitz; Jonathan, husband of Corie (DeFranceschi) Reimert; Julia Koch; Nicholas Hilbert; Katlyn Hilbert; There are two step grandchildren: Grant T. Gregory and Cooper R. Gregory. Also, great grandchildren: Paige Geist; Benjamin Reimert; Ezra Markovitz and Gavin Pitosky. In addition to his parents, Clarence was predeceased by sisters: Carrie Rohrbach; Edna Rohrbach; Gladys Grim; Joyce Eisenhard; Betty Matthew; Helen Kunkleman; and  brothers Lester C. Hilbert and Harold Hilbert.
 
A funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Clarence will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. from Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with The Reverend Dr. Colleen G. Kristula, officiating. Interment with Military Honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217 American Legion Honor Guard and The United States Air Force in Saint Peters Union Cemetery, Macungie. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
