The Life of Carmen Alicia Rivera

Our beloved mother, Carmen Alicia Rivera (nee Algarin), 84 of Lorain, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 23, 2022 after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving children and sister.

She was born on September 20, 1937, to Miguel and Ramona Algarin in Juncos, Puerto Rico. Alice spent most of her life in Lorain. She was certified as a pre-school Head Start teacher for 25 years and owned her own Day Care Center for 6 years before retiring.

Alice enjoyed singing and worshipping, reading, being a church usher, and studying the word of God. Alice had a passion for God, family, and helping those in need. She enjoyed gardening, hosting family gatherings, and taking pictures. Above all, she was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Rosa) Garcia of Lorain and David (Elisa) Garcia of Elyria; daughters, Elizabeth “Liz” Garcia of Lorain, Rose (Mike) Castro of Lorain, Carmen “Rita” Ramirez of Lorain and Maria (Luis) Carrero of Lincoln Park, Michigan; brother, David (Nancy) Vazquez of Pembroke Pines, Florida; sister Maria (Tony) Delgado of Aurora, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Other than her parents, Carmen Alicia was preceded in death by her brother Socorro Luis Algarin.

Visitation will be held at Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal Ebenezer, 1676 East 36th Street, Lorain Ohio 44055, Monday, June 27, 2022, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Her funeral service will follow. The Reverend, Gerardo Aponte will officiate.

Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Lorain.
