The Life of SANDRA SAUNDERS

Sandra Ellen Saunders, 73 years old, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 18, 2022, with her family by her side. She was the middle child born on August 13, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended Vann Elementary School, Herron Hill Middle School, and she was a graduate of Schenley High School Class of 1966. She attended college for 2 years, worked for Pittsburgh Public Schools and after 22 years of service, she retired from City of Pittsburgh Public Works as a payroll clerk.
Sandra met William Saunders, Sr in 1976. They were married on April 15, 1977, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Together they raised two children: William Saunders, Jr, Jason Saunders of whom she loved dearly. Sandra was preceded in death by her father, William Kenneth Ely, Sr, and sister Jo Ellen Ely. Sandra is survived by mother, Aliene Ely; brother, William Kenneth Ely, Jr; husband, William Saunders, Sr; sons, William Saunders, Jr (Ronette) and Jason Saunders (Sheena). Sandra was the grandmother of Xavier, Brandon, Cameron, and Carter. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends will miss her.
The family has entrusted Samuel Jones Funeral Home with the arrangements. There will be a viewing on Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 4-8pm at Samuel Jones Funeral Home located at 2644 Wylie Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15219, and a Homegoing Celebration is scheduled for Friday, July 1, 2022, 11:00 am at Shiloh Community Baptist Church, 6940 Frankstown Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15208. Rev. Hubert D. Hutcherson will officiate the service
