The Life of DENISE M. LESSIG

Denise M. Lessig, 66, of Millmont, passed away September 18, 2022, at 3:15 PM in the Reading Hospital where she was a patient.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Edward J. and Therese A. (Kopala) Lessig.

Denise was an elementary school teacher all her life teaching at Thomas Ford Elementary School for over 30 years and Millmont Elementary for 7 years, retiring in 2017. She was an inspiration to all her students.

She was a member of St. John Baptist de LaSalle R.C. Church, Shillington, and a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Millmont. Denise was a 1973 graduate of Holy Name H.S., Alvernia University and received her master’s degree from Kutztown University. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, ceramics and knitting baby blankets. Her family and her polish American heritage were very important to her.

She is survived by her brothers – Edward M. Lessig and Matthew P. Lessig, both of Reading, her nephew Robert Lessig, her great nephew Chase Lessig, her aunt Andzia Kopala, and many cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother John E. Lessig (8/13/2011) and her fiancé Joseph A. Damore (7/19/2011).
