On May 18, 2022, Tony passed away at the age of 22. He was born in Austin, Texas on February 8, 2000, where he lived until the age of 4 years old. He then moved to Oklahoma City where he grew up and went to school. He had many friends and people who loved him.

In August of 2018, he took up his aunt Crystal’s offer to move with them to Olathe, Kansas. He moved there, got his driver’s license, and started working full-time. He then began to meet new people that soon became his family and met his girlfriend Amylu Vazquez.

He enjoyed going to the fields to play soccer with his cousin Angel and Uncles Alfredo (Tui), Jose (Tallo), and Alex. Hanging out with his sister Lucy was one thing he really enjoyed, and being around his little brother. Hanging out in his cousin Jenny’s room was also one of his favorite things to do. He will be dearly missed, but we have faith that he is now in a better place and at peace. He was very much loved by many, and that smile of his is what we will remember every day for the rest of our lives.

Tony is preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Alfredo Mercado, his aunt, Rosa Mercado and cousin Jose Ernesto Garcia Santoyo. He is survived by his parents, Jose and Alicia Mercado, sister, Lucy Mercado, brother, Joseph Mercado, and girlfriend, Amylu Vazquez, mother of his only child Ayden Mercado-Vazquez. Maternal grandmother, Dora Perez, paternal grandparents, Ana Lucia Nieto and Javier Mercado, paternal aunts, Sandra and Esmeralda Mercado, maternal aunts and uncles, Crystal, Miguel, Bianca, Jose, Alfredo, and Alex, paternal cousins Jamin, Sadoc, Lucia and Sandra, maternal cousins Angel, Jenny, Iliana, Miguel Jr., Yazmin, Jaylah, Mateo, Zoe, Isaac, Ivette, Diego, and Sophia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2022 at St. Paul Catholic Church 21650 West 115th Terrace Olathe, Kansas. Interment in Olathe Memorial Cemetery 738 North Chestnut Street Olathe, Kansas. Visitation 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas.
