The Life of Malcolm Joseph Granier

Opelousas - Funeral services for Malcolm Joseph Granier will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022, in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.  Father Joe Campion will conduct the service.  Rite of Committal and internment will be held at Lafayette Memorial Park. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. 

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Malcolm Joseph Granier, age 68, on Monday, January 17, 2022, at his residence. 

Malcolm worked as a NACE inspector for many years at several locations, including the  Exxon plant.  He was a member of AA and was very proud to have been sober for over 34 years.  He loved watching football and cheering for his favorite team, the Alabama Crimson Tides.  He collected coins, loved to fish, and enjoyed listening to rap music and The Rolling Stones.  Malcolm will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Burgamy Granier of Duson, La.; his step-son, Neal Pierret and wife, Alaina, of Opelousas; his step-daughter, Georgette Schexnayder and husband, Troy, of Scott; his sisters-in-law, Charlotte Granier of Denham Springs, Darlene Adams and husband, Stan, of Broussard and Deborah "Debbie" Roberts of Milton; his brother, Mitchell Granier and wife, Lisa, of Central; his sister, Melanie Varisco and husband, Sal, of Zachary and his grandson, Joshua Schexnayder.  He cherished his time with his beloved dog, "Todo", who was like a child in his eyes.  He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian Louis Granier and Elise Marie Bizette Granier; his brother, Michael Adrian Granier, and his brother-in-law, Johnny Roberts.
