The Life of Lawrence Alva Baker Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 12:00 pm in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette, for Lawrence Alva Baker, Sr., 96, who passed away at his residence in Maurice on Saturday, January 15, 2022.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, from 10:00 am until time of services.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dr. James Pritchard, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Lafayette, will officiate at the services.

Musical selections will be provided by Luther Burney accompanied by Joe Garbarino.

Survivors include his two sons and their wives, Larry Baker, Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Portland, TX, and Russell Baker and his wife, Jan of Broussard, LA; five grandchildren, Karrie Cox and her husband, Marty of Montalba, TX, Larry Baker, III and his wife, Jennifer of Portland, TX, Rusty Baker and his wife, Brittany of Tomball, TX, John Baker of Broussard, LA, Amy Brown and her husband, Blair of Gainesville, TX; three great granddaughters, Taylor Baker, Kaylin Baker, and Jordyn Baker of Portland, TX; four great grandsons Brant Cox, Baker Cox both of Montalba, TX, Hudson Brown and Rhodes Brown both of Gainesville, TX.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life, his partner and compass for 65 years, Miriam Virginia Coulter Baker; his parents, Alva Baker and the former Lena Mae Chamberlain; and an extended family of sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews plus many friends he considered family.

Lawrence Alva Baker, Sr. was born April 3, 1925, in North Platte Nebraska. Larry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lafayette. He was also a member of the Petroleum Club of Lafayette and a Rosarian with the American Rose Society. Mr. Baker died in his home at the ripe old age of 96. He had many adventures in his life and lived and died as he wanted - in his home that he shared with his wife for many years.

Larry will be remembered as a man who lived life to its fullest. He traveled the world, contributed greatly to the oil and gas industry, and loved his family and friends. All of us will remember the good times we shared with him. God Bless.

Pallbearers will be Larry Baker, III, Rusty Baker, John Baker, Marty Cox, Brant Cox, and Baker Cox.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bryan Spallino, and “Porky” Moore.
