The Life of Evan Chen

Evan N. Chen, beloved husband of Priscilla S. Chen, passed away on December 18, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Evan was born in Canton, China, and moved to Hong Kong when WW II began.  He graduated from college in Taiwan, then moved to the United States and received a Masters degree in mechanical engineering from Ohio University, where he met and married Priscilla.  They settled in Fairfield to raise their family.  Evan worked for Bullard Machine Tool Co., Remington Arms and Schick Manufacturing Co., retiring from Schick in 1996.  Over the course of his career, Evan was credited with thirty one patents.  

Evan loved camping and fishing, and in retirement, spending time with his grandchildren and traveling the world with his devoted wife.  He was extremely proud of his Chinese heritage and enjoyed sharing this with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to Priscilla, Evan is survived by his children Jacqueline (Leopold) DeFusco of Trumbull, Evan Chen, Jr. (Vivien) of New York, David Chen (Le) of Milford, seven grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sister Anastasia Ing and brother Jimmy Chan, both of Toronto, Canada.  

 There will be a private Mass of Christian burial.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Evan’s memory may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield, CT 06824, or Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, Box 414238, Boston, MA 02241-4238.
