The Life of Edward E Hossler Sr.

Edward E. Hossler Sr., 85, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, at Rosewood Rehab and Nursing Center, Schuylkill Haven.

Born in Pottsville, on April 16, 1936, he was a son of the late William and Marion (Moyer) Hossler.

Ed served in the Marines from 1954 until 1959. He worked as a tree surgeon and supervisor for Quaker Tree Surgeons and also other tree companies. Ed was a member of the Schuylkill County Motorcycle Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Mountaineer Archery Club, Roedersville Gun Club and New Ringgold Hunting Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Rose Marie (Mistysyn) Hossler, on Jan. 14, 2012; brothers, William, Robert, Allen and Kenneth Hossler; sister, Lois Eckert; and brother-in-law, Joseph Mistysyn.

Ed is survived by six children, Debby M. Hossler, Donna M. Callahan and her husband, John, Jim J. Hossler and his wife, Tammy, Denise M. Hossler, Edward E. Hossler Jr. and Jeff W. Hossler and his wife, Erin, all of Pottsville; 16 grandchildren, Robert, Joseph, Eileen, Bridget, Jimmy, Daniel, Jared, Jeremy, Rob, Tyler, Samantha, Mikala, Edward, William, Dakota and Morgan; 12 great-grandchildren, Wesley, Benjamin, Alegra, Autumn, James III, Haiden, Justin, Lila, Laiken, Connor, Annabelle and Patrick; a sister-in-law, Janet Hossler, Schuylkill Haven; and nieces and nephews.

A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home in Port Carbon with Pastor Chris Rothharpt officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday morning at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
