The Life of Charles R Kramer

Charles R. Kramer, 96, of Pottsville, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at Seton Manor Nursing Home, Orwigsburg.

 

Born Aug. 4, 1925, in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Roy and Gertrude (Ploppert) Kramer.

 

Charles served in the Army from 1943-1945.

 

He worked as a police officer at Harrisburg and then for Pottsville, Mount Carbon and Beaver Meadows and was a bus driver for the Minersville Catholic schools.

 

Charles was a member of the FOP 44 and had a band, Lucky Kramer and Melody Rangers.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry L. Kramer; two grandsons, Steven A. Stonelake and David W. Thomas Jr.; three brothers, Roy, Elmer and George Kramer.

 

Charles is survived by two daughters, Bonny Stonelake, Pottsville, and Carol Ann Wheeler and her husband, Sonny, Virginia Beach; two granddaughters, Shannon L. Murray and husband, Brian, Saint Clair, and Tasha A. Frederick and Travis, Virginia Beach; seven great-grandchildren, Xander Martin, Kolten Murray, Ashlyn Murray, Laney Frederick, Grady Frederick, Caleb Thomas and Austin Thomas; a sister, Louise Gradwell; his companion, Ethel George, Minersville; nieces and nephews.

 

Religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, Port Carbon, with Deacon Larry Lonergan officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.
