The Life of CRYSTAL C SMITH

Crystal C. Smith was born on April 23, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from the union of the late George D. Despert and Mary L. Brown Despert-Rogers. Crystal peacefully departed this world on November 8, 2021, at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was preceded in death by brother, Herman, sister, Margarette, Agnes, brothers, George and Henry, sisters, Gertrude, Alice, and Janet. She leaves her loving sister, Geraldine J. Wright and brother, John C. Rogers (Malene). Crystal graduated from South Hills High School. She married Charles W. Smith (deceased) and began a family where six loving children were created and four who mourn her passing. George Smith (deceased) and Wanda Jean Smith (deceased). As a loving wife, mother and homemaker Crystal went into private duty nursing, attended millenary school and had her own hat store in Sewickley, PA. She was active as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts at the Sewickley Community Center. She worked at Tots & Tweeds and Allegheny Valley School for the mentally challenged where she retired in 1994. Crystal's life was filled with love for her family. She was fun loving, down to earth and she had NO FILTER. Everyone loved being around her. She enjoyed family gatherings and always had a house full of kids. Family was very important to her. She loved a good time. She also enjoyed taking cruises and flying free while using her daughters buddy pass. She loved life and was life loving. Crystal was a child of God, raised in the Baptist Church and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Stars of the Silver Light Chapter #58. She leaves to celebrate her life, Charles W. Smith, Jr., (Diane), Audrey Parker-Hollis, Debra A. Smith, Adriene L. Smith, ten grandchildren, and thirty-two great grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Let's not forget she enjoyed her Pokeno & Bingo Nights! And, if you happened to be visiting her on one of her Bingo nights, she'd kindly remind you "Tonight's Bingo" You Gotta GO! Family and Friends welcome Monday 3-8 pm WM. SLATER & SONS, INC., (412-381-3345) 301 Virginia Ave., 15211 where a funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11:00am. Burial to follow in Allegheny Cemetery.
