The Life of Mr. John "Jack" L. Maurer Jr.

John L. "Jack" Maurer, Jr., 74, of Kutztown, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Linda J. (Miller) Maurer, whom he married on November 5, 2005.

Born in Reading, Jack was a son of the late John L. Maurer, Sr., and Evelyn L. (Dierolf) Maurer. He was a graduate of Hellertown High School, now Saucon Valley High School, and later, Reading Area Community College. Jack was employed for over 50 years as an Electrician by International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 743 of Eastern Pennsylvania. He also was an electrician teacher at Reading Muhlenberg Career & Technology Center, for several years, where he was a mentor to many apprentices over the years.

Jack honorably and faithfully served his country in The United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He also was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kutztown.

In addition to his wife of nearly 16 years, Linda, Jack is survived by his children, Jennifer L. (Maurer), wife of Lance Sweitzer, Birdsboro, John R. Maurer, Mohnton, Brandy L. Rentko, Whitehall, and Jacob E. Maurer, husband of Gwendolyn A. (Williams) Maurer, Stony Creek; two sisters, Grayce Wagner, Reading, and Mary Lou Breidegam, Fleetwood.

Along with his parents, Jack was predeceased by an infant sister.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Jack's life will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Burial, with military honors provided by The United States Navy and Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion, Topton, Honor Guards, will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
