The Life of Robert Cameron Hughes

Robert Cameron Hughes, 81, of West Chester, PA, went home to be with his lord and savior Jesus for all eternity” on Septemer 30, 2021.

Born and raised in Broomall, PA. he was a  graduate of  Marple Newtown High School, class of '57. Bob served as an MP in the U.S. Army, stationed in Alaska. A proud Teamster, he worked as a foreman at the Limerick Power Plant for 30 years.

An avid Phila. sports fan,  he also loved flowers and feeding the animals that could be found on his historic Chester County property. Trips to the beach at Stone Harbor were important as well.

“His love for the lord was evident as he spent his days reading his bible and praying for everyone he knew. “ the family requests in lieu of flowers, act as Robert would and hug a loved one, call a long-lost friend, forgive,ask forgiveness, be kind, help a stranger, always smile...and no matter what, never ever cease praying.    
 

He will best be remembered as a  loving husband, dad and especially as "Poppie" to C.J., Scottie, Nick and Devon. 

Survivors: include his wife of almost 60 years, Mary (nee Coll); his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Dave DeHaven, and 4 grandchildren C.J., Scottie, Nick & Devon

Service: Private Graveside Service will be held at Arlington Cemetery 

Interment: Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA 19026

Arrangements: Toppitzer Funeral Home, Drexel Hill.
