The Life of GAYLORD EUGENE CLARK

G. Eugene Clark, 83, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 23, at Iles Westover Chapel. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.

Eugene was born July 18, 1938, in Des Moines, to Howard and Margaret (Blake) Clark. He married Kay Smith on June 14, 1958 and they made their home in the West Des Moines area where they raised their two daughters. Eugene taught in the Des Moines Public School System and retired from the district in 2001 as Director of Facilities Management, after 37 years of service.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Kay Clark, two daughters, Lori (Scott) Sandahl of Saint Marys, IA, and Melinda (Adam) Mays of West Des Moines; two granddaughters, Callie Sandahl and Sidney Mays. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm Thursday, July 22, at Iles Westover Chapel. Contributions may be made to the West Des Moines Fire and Rescue or Decoding Dyslexia Iowa.
