The Life of Zhiwen Xue

Zhiwen Xue, affectionately called “Adia” by his family, and “Shoe-shoe” by those loved ones who did not speak Chinese passed away Sunday, May 30th, 2021 at UPMC East, Monroeville. He was born July 23, 1934 in Shanghai, China, son of the late Yishen Xue and famous opera singer Lanchun Lu and youngest of eleven.

Adia was a graduate of Saint John’s High School and TongJi University in Shanghai, after which he became a civil engineer for an automobile company in China. Adia spent much of his retired life driving his granddaughters to various sports events around Murrysville, teaching them to make dumplings “his way,” and showing off his mahjong skills. He loved talking to his friends and family over Facetime and giving loved ones plants he grew or pieces he found at estate sales. He had a unique knack for bringing a smile to peoples’ faces. Zhiwen is survived by a daughter, Joan Zhang, son-in-law John Zhang, wife Cai Yu, and his granddaughters Victoria and Allison Zhang. Friends and family will be received from 3-5pm on Wednesday, June 2nd at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville. www.hartfuneralhomeinc.com
