The Life of Mrs. Dorothy A. Madeira

Dorothy A. "Dottie" (Miller) Madeira, 90, of Kutztown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 17, 2021 in her residence surrounded by her family. She was the loving companion of John C. Printz.

Born in Reading, Dottie was a daughter of the late David J. and Martha M. (Beaver) Miller. She was a graduate of Fleetwood Area High School. Dottie worked as a Certified Nurses Aide at the Lutheran Home at Topton for 18 years, retiring in 1993. She was an avid and talented gardener and seamstress. She also enjoyed country music and dancing.

In addition to her companion of nearly 30 years, John, Dorothy is survived by her son, Michael A., husband of Deborah A. (Oberholtzer) Madeira, Mohrsville; daughter-in-law, Shirley A. (Kistler) Madeira, Kutztown, widow of predeceased son, David S. Madeira, who died on June 25, 2020; John's daughters, Cheryl A. (Printz), wife of Kenneth E. Ziegler, Kutztown, and Tina M. (Printz), wife of John G. Burkos, Allentown; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and son; Dottie was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth (Miller) Sanders; brother, Richard D. Miller; and her former husband, Samuel R. Madeira on November 23, 2003. 

A memorial service to celebrate and honor Dottie's life will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Wayne Rissmiller officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
