The Life of Alice M. Murphy

Alice Maria Frasquin Högg Debeze Murphy Holbert, age 74, of Merion Station, Pennsylvania died on June 5, 2021.  Alice was born in Amberg, Germany on October 17, 1946, and spent her childhood in Epernay, France before relocating to the United States on July 3, 1960. 

Alice graduated from St Hubert Catholic High School for Girls and studied Painting, Drawing, and Sculpture at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and Liberal Arts at the University of Pennsylvania.  Alice spent the majority of her professional career as an administrative assistant and paralegal for several top law firms in Center City, Philadelphia.  She was a valued team member and was sought after for her multilingual skills and ability to serve as a language interpreter and translator. She was proud of her abilities and roles in her organizations.

Alice’s greatest legacy was her children and grandchildren. She was always so proud of them and all of their accomplishments. She glowed talking about her family and sharing pictures of them to all of her friends and really anyone she could. Alice is survived by two children, Heather A. Murphy & Robert L. Devers; five grandchildren, Maxwell, Isadora, Rya, Wynnie, & Ruby.  She was preceded in death by her parents Holbert Phillips and Theresie Högg Ray as well as caregivers Leon and Anna (Simbeck) Debeze.

Alice was always an animal lover. She was surrounded by animals of all kinds during her childhood, in France. She especially adored her 2 cats Tinklebell and Tiger and was always snuggling with and doting over them. She was also quick to lend a helping hand to those in need and even in her passing was able to help others through the Gift of Life program.

 Alice will be forever remembered and truly missed by all who knew her!

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Morris Animal Refuge or a local SPCA.

 A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm at West Laurel Hill Cemetery and Funeral Home located at 321 Belmont Ave. Bala Cynwyd, PA.  Service and Spreading of Ashes Ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 10th from 2:00 pm -3:00 pm at West Laurel Hill Cemetery - Peace Chapel’s Reflection Garden.
