The Life of Mrs. Goldie C. Geist

Goldie C. (Heiter) Geist, 91, of Topton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 29, 2021 in The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the widow of Herbert J. Geist who died July 15, 1990.

 

Born in the village of Hancock, Longswamp Twp., Goldie was a daughter of the late Adam Heiter and Evelyn (Yoder) Heiter Croddy. She was a 1947 graduate of Kutztown Area High School and was a faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Topton, where she was a former member of the church choir and women's group.

Goldie was employed as a Secretary by the Brandywine Heights Area School District for 21 years. Prior to that, she worked in the same capacity at the former Caloric Corporation, Topton and as a machine operator at the former Marcus Manufacturing, Topton. 

 

Her greatest hobbies were scrapbooking and crocheting afghans. Her family would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to the entire staff on A-Wing at The Lutheran Home and the Bayada Hospice care team for their kind and compassionate care as they became Goldie's extended family. 

 

Goldie is survived by her daughter, Gail S. Geist, Topton, and several nieces and nephews. 

 

Along with her husband and parents, Goldie was predeceased by her brothers, J. Adam Hieter and Donald R. Heiter and a sister, Shirley Heiter. 

 

A memorial service to celebrate Goldie's life will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 121 S. Home Avenue, Topton, PA with Reverend Scott W. Lingenfelter officiating. Burial will be held privately in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown. There are no calling hours. Current CDC guidelines regarding gathering size restrictions and social distancing will be in effect and masks must be worn. 

 

Memorial contributions may be made in Goldie's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 37, Topton, PA  19562.

Dear Gail,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We so enjoyed laughing with you and Goldie on our visits. The Afghan she gave us is a lovely addition to our living room. She was such a bright spirit. May the Lord give you His peace in this trying time. Mike & Mari-Cay
