The Life of Mr. Harold Lee Kehl Jr.

Harold Lee Kehl, Jr., 55, of Lenhartsville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 17, 2021 in St. Luke's University Hospital, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Patricia E. (Bickham) Kehl, whom he married on May 5, 1984. 

 

Born in Reading, Harold was a son of Harold L. Kehl, Sr., of Brandon, FL, and the late Carol Ann (Sallada) Kehl, who died August 7, 2019. He was a 1983 graduate of Kutztown Area High School and was a member of Salem E.C. Church, Lenhartsville. Harold, along with his wife and son, owned and operated J-BAT Trucking, Lenhartsville, since June 2018 and also was very instrumental in Kehl Transport, LLC. Prior to that, he was employed by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., Lyons, for 15 years.

 

Harold had a love for farming and tractors and was a former member of The Old Time Plow Boys Club. He was a dedicated and hard worker. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. 

 

In addition to his wife of 36 years, Patricia, Harold is survived by his four children, Adam L. Kehl, Shoemakersville, Timothy J. Kehl, Brian J. Kehl, and Jennifer L. Kehl, all of Lenhartsville; seven grandchildren, Adam C., Carter L., Kash K., Makenna D., Makenzie A., Maci L. and Oliver D.; a sister, Tammy (Kehl) Wahl, Kutztown; and two brothers, Norman J. Kehl, Lebanon and Barry W. Kehl, Bethel. 

 

Along with his mother, Harold was predeceased by a brother, Carl S. Kehl in 2001. 

 

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Harold's life will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Salem E.C. Church, 2150 Old U.S. 22, Lenhartsville, PA with Pastor Dave Long officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. in the church. Current CDC guidelines regarding gathering size restrictions and social distancing will be in effect and masks must be worn. 

 

The burial will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Berks County Memorial Gardens, 201 Evansville Road, Fleetwood, PA. A procession will form beginning  at 10:00 a.m. at Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown and leave prompt at 10:30 a.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family would sincerely appreciate contributions be made to the Harold Lee Kehl, Jr. Memorial Fund c/o Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., P.O. Box 292, Kutztown, PA  19530-0292 to help defray unexpected medical expenses.
