The Life of Charlyne McLean

Charlyne Riedinger McLean died peacefully in her home on March 25, 2021. She was born in Camden, NJ, the daughter of the late Harriet A. (Clapp) and Charles A. Riedinger. She grew up in Hampstead, Westmount, Montreal and Quebec, Canada and moved to New York when she was 17.
Charlyne was a graduate of Vermont Junior College with a degree in Journalism. While working in NYC, she met her husband, Allan. After they married, they made their home in Fairfield, CT where they raised their family. Charlyne was involved in various volunteer work, including being a candy striper and teacher’s aide at an elementary school in Bridgeport as well as Riverfield and Tomlinson schools in Fairfield. She later worked for Stauffer Chemical Company in Westport for 11 years. After her retirement, she became a volunteer for the Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport where she enjoyed teaching women how to read and write English. Her faith was extremely important to her and was a devoted member of Jesse Lee United Methodist Church in Easton.
Charlyne is survived by two loving daughters, Cheryl McLean Morey and her partner, Jeffrey Beam of Fairfield and Janet McLean Martel of Exeter, RI. She will also be missed by four dear granddaughters, Michele (Alex), Diana, Alison and Kelsey. She was also the proud great grandmother of Harrison. She was predeceased by her former husband, Allan McLean and her brother, Dan Riedinger.
