The Life of ANDREW JAMES HARWOOD

Andrew J. Harwood passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2021, due to injuries sustained in an accident. He was born on November 16, 1988, son of Gretchen Cruchelow.

Born and raised in Des Moines, Andrew was a proud Eastsider and leader of the Peckerwoods Club. He was the most loving, gentle, and down to earth man, who could be stubborn and headstrong at times. Andrew was also loyal beyond measure, willing to help anyone in need.

He was a jack of all trades, loved cars, and was best at making others laugh. You were never bored in his presence. Above all else, he loved his family and their time spent together.

Andrew is survived by his grandmother, Pam Cruchelow; grandparents, Joyce and Larry Harwood; sister, Chelsey (Nick) Lande; girlfriend, Starlene Brockett, and her daughter Kaley; his nieces and nephews, Alivia and Reese Lande, Ryder, Rylie, and Ryot Wood; uncle and aunts, Howie (Leslie) Cruchelow II and Charlotte LaFleur; cousins, Jessie Cruchelow, Lexie Cruchelow, and David Wood. He is also survived by his brothers by choice, John (Jessica) McFadden, Anthony (Lauren Bailey) Sullivan, and Aaron (Katie) Jordan, as well as countless friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., also at the funeral home.
