The Life of LENA MASON

Lena Mason

99, died quietly on March 15, 2021. She was born in the Fort Des Moines area, and graduated from Lincoln High School class of 1940. During WWII, she lived and worked in Denver, Colorado and New York City. Returning to Des Moines after the war, she married Otto Mason and they raised two daughters and a son.

Lena was a charter member of Christ the King Parish and the Lincoln High Alumni Association and was active in both into her 90s. She loved growing flowers and volunteered at the Des Moines Botanical Center for many years.

She is survived by her brother, Dante Ponzeline, sister in law, Cathy Ponzeline, children, Jan (Tom) Hiscocks and Craig (Teri) Mason, four grandchildren, and nine great grand children. She is predeceased by her husband , Otto, and daughter Peggy Mason.

Private services for family will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Care Initiatives Hospice.
