The Life of William H Roberts

William H. Roberts of Cressona passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, March 21st.  He was born on April 3, 1946 in Pottsville and was a 1964 graduate of Pottsville High School.  Bill was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and was awarded a Purple Heart from wounds received while serving in Vietnam.

 

Bill was a lathe operator for the Philadelphia Gear Company for over 25 years until the company closed.  He then worked for Fed Ex for 9 years as a tractor trailer driver.  Bill was an active member of St. Mark’s United Church of Christ and was a current member of the church council.  He was an avid casino fan and loved to play poker.  Fishing and bowling were two of his other passions

 

Bill is predeceased by his mother Dorothy Roberts, brother Lindy, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.   He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty, daughters Tracey Rupp and her husband Frank, Pottsville, Karen Moyer and her husband Matt, Helena Montana, son William, Cressona, grandchildren Frankie Rupp Jr. and his wife Miranda, Daniel Rupp, Amber Rupp, Benjamin Moyer, Aaron Moyer, Nathan Moyer, and Johnathan Moyer, great-grandchildren, Rylen Rupp and Noah Rupp; sister Linda Donton.

 

There will be a service at Grabowski Funeral Home at Schuylkill Memorial Park on Friday at 11:00 AM with Reverend Kevin Fruchtl, St. Mark’s United Church of Christ, officiating.  Grabowski Funeral Home has been entrusted with the services.  Family and friends are invited from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  Covid restrictions will be in effect.  Interment will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park following the chapel service.  Condolences and memories may be shared at grabowskifuneralhome.com.
