The Life of Ammon H. Zimmerman

Ammon H. Zimmerman, 73, of Maxatawny Township, died peacefully in his home after several months of illness, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Erma Z. (Hoover) Zimmerman, they were married February 19, 1970. Born in West Earl Township, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Edwin N. and Annie N. (Hoover) Zimmerman. Mr. Zimmerman was a member of the Groffdale Conference of Mennonites and attended Center Mennonite Church, Kutztown. 

In addition to his wife of 51 years, Erma, he is survived by four sons: Elvin H., husband of Erla H. (Sauder) Zimmerman, Lewisburg, Union County; Alvin H., husband of Erma S. (Nolt) Zimmerman, Lewisburg; Elmer H., husband of Arlene W. (Weaver) Zimmerman, Kutztown; and Ammon H., Jr., husband of Jane N. (Burkholder) Zimmerman, Kutztown; There are also four daughters: Esther H. (Zimmerman), wife of Allen N. Burkholder, Lewisburg; Anna Mae H. (Zimmerman), wife of Ralph W. Brubaker, Lewisburg; Erla H. (Zimmerman), wife of Waylon S. Nolt, Kutztown; and Anita H. (Zimmerman), wife of Harold W. Nolt, Kutztown. There are a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Other survivors include five sisters: Lizzie H. (Zimmerman), widow of Mahlon W. Sauder, Kutztown; Martha H. (Zimmerman), wife of Harry Z. Weaver, Kutztown; Anna H. (Zimmerman), wife of Melvin H. Nolt, Plymouth, OH; Rachel H. (Zimmerman), wife of Harvey W. Burkholder, Shiloh, OH; and Annetta H. (Zimmerman), wife of Lloyd Z. Martin, Shiloh, OH. There are also three brothers: Harvey H., widower of Erma W. (Burkholder) Zimmerman; Edwin H., husband of Grace Z. (Newswanger) Zimmerman; and Glenn H., husband of Louella Z. (Newswanger) Zimmerman, all of Shelby, OH. There is also a sister-in-law, Mabel (Sauder) widow of Melvin H. Zimmerman, Iowa. 

In addition to his parents, Ammon was predeceased by a sister, Ellen H. Zimmerman, in 1964; a brother, Melvin H. Zimmerman in 2004; and a grandson, Allen B. Zimmerman in 2015. 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. in Center Mennonite Church, Kutztown, with Bishop Eli W. Burkholder, officiating. Interment in Center Mennonite Church Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Sunday, at the late residence, 15402 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
