The Life of Alice L. Gatison LeCompte

Alice Leola LeCompte, 93, of New Haven, formerly of Ansonia and Derby, wife of the late Ferdinand LeCompte, died Sept. 29, 2010 at Arden House Health Care in Hamden. She was born Sept. 2, 1917 in Darlington, SC, daughter of the late Alex and Elizabeth Gatison. Mrs. LeCompte worked as a nursing assistant at Laurel Heights in Shelton. She was a member of the Union Temple U.F.W.B. Church in New Haven, where she also served as church mother and sang on the Gospel Chorus. Survivors include two daughters, Eloise Hawkins and New Haven and Donna Langley of Greenville, NC; two brothers Artis Gatison of Atlanta, GA and Calvin Gatison of Brockton, MA; Her sister Bernetha Hughs of Cheraw, SC; 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Gonzxales Black and Isiah and James Gatison; and three sisters, Lula Mae Bristow, Ruth Coe and Elizabeth McClellan and one granddaughter Cherie Harper.
