The Life of Karen Strand Deren

Karen Strand Deren, 67, wife of the late John Deren, and resident of Seymour, died July 12, 2009 at Connecticut Hospice of Braqnford. She was born Dec 10, 1941 in Derby, daughter of the late Everett Strand and Catherine Turschmann Strand. Karen graduated from the Waterbury Hosital School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse for the Women's Health Center in Ansonia. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She was a parishioner of St. Augustine's Church in Seymour and was an avid quilter and knitter for the church. Karen is survived by her son John Deren of Fairfield, two daughters Joan Daly and Kristin Molin both of Seymour; and five grandchildren, Sarah and Hannah Molin, Erin and Brent Daly all of Seymour and Joseph Deren of Fairfield. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 15 at 11 a.m. from the Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home Ansonia. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
