The Life of Florence Dow Forti

Florence Dow Forti, 84, of Beacon Falls, entered into peaceful rest October 16, 2007 at the Griffin Hospital, Derby. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank A. Forti. Mrs. Forti was born January 15, 1923 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Stewart Dow. Florence was a retired Executive Secretary from Sikorsky Aircraft, Stratford where she was known to have been the first woman there to arrive to work wearing pants with her suit. She was a Communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church, Seymour. Florence was an avid reader, and she enjoyed world news and politics. Mrs. Forti leaves her loving family including her daughter, Janice Schuck of Beacon Falls; four grandchildren, Christopher R. Forti of Cleveland, OH, Allison Sirowich and her husband Michael of Beacon Falls, Steven Forti and his wife Dana of Milford and Jennifer Sniffin and her husband Kevin of Danbury; three great grandchildren, Megen, Katie and Kian Sirowich of Beacon Falls and several nieces and nephews. Her brothers, Arthur, Robert and Lester Dow and sisters Margaret Dow, Grace Washburn and Ethel Dowdney predeceased her. A service of Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated Friday in Trinity Episcopal Church Seymour. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Ralph E Hull Funeral Home, Seymour, is entrusted with the arrangements.
