The Life of Miss Joyce Walsh

Joyce E. Walsh, age 85, a former longtime Jewett St. Ansonia resident now living in Shelton, died June 11, 2007 at Bishop Wicke Health Center.  She was born April 4, 1922 in Ansonia, daughter of the late robert & Mary Richardson  She worked in the payroll dept. for American Brass Co. and worked as a teletype operator & switchboard operator.  She also served as a supernumerary Police Officer for the City of Ansonia.  Joyce was a member of the First United Methodist Church, 47 Franklin St. Ansonia where she also served as Sunday School Teacher.  She was also active in the church's Epworth League as well as The Methodist Church Womens Society.  She served as secretary for 30 years and as Noble Grand for the former Ellsworth Rebekah's Lodge #8 of Ansonia.  She was also a member of the prayer shawl ministry at Wesley Heights of Shelton.  She is survived by two sisters, Viola "Sue" Stevenson of Ansonia and Gloria Bobbins of Seymour; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by four sisters, Frances Anglace, Doris Wanciak, Shirley Cremonie and Nancy Hansen and three brothers, Robert, John and Donald "Billy" Walsh.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 am from the Jenkins'King Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, with Rev. James Stinson officiating.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joyce's church.
