The Life of Dr. Edward Bednar

Dr. Edward G. Bednar, 76, of Woodbridge, died March 21, 2009. He was sthe loving husband of Margaret (Peggy) Dorsey Bednar. He was born January 5, 1933 in Bridgeport, son of the late Edward J. and Marie Hadjus Bednar, Dr. Bednar was a graduate of Fairfield Prep and the University of Pennsylvania College and Dental Schools and was a practicing dentist in Derby for nearly 50 years and was dedicated to all of his patients. He was an active member of the Connecticut Dental Society and past president of the Naugatuck Valley Dental Society. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and a retired Captain in the US Naval Reserves, where he served for 35 years. He had many civic accomplishments, including past poresident of the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club, asctive member of the Derby-Shelton Boys and Girls Club, past member of the Board of Directors for the Boy Scouts of America and a member of St. Joseph Church, Ansonia where he served on the parish counsel. He was also a past president - Graduate Chapter of the Connecticut Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity, a member of the Archdiocesan Board of Education, the Navy League, United Way Coordinator for the Dental Program and the NRA. Dr. Bednar was also a partner of the Bednar-Osiecki Funeral Home. Survivors in addition to his wife, Peggy, include four cherished daughters, Theresa and her husband Michael Murphy of Braintree, MA, Lorraine and her husband Robert Sarafian of Dover, MA, Maria and her husband John Courtney of Woodbridge, Meg and her husband Aaron Neron of Newton, N.H.; seven adored and loving grandchildren, Kevin and Danny Murphy, Rachael, Kyle and Marie Sarafian, Heidi Neron and Kaitlyn Courtney. The Bednar-Osiecki Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Burial with military honors will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia
