The Life of Mary (Donahue) Zuraw

Mary Donahue Zuraw, 76, beloved wife of Robert E. Zuraw and Ansonia resident, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on June 2, 2009 after a long, courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Mary was the mother of daughters Essie Zuraw-Burns and her huysband Ted of Chepachet, R.I., Catherine Zuraw-Conrad and her husband Mark of Fairfield, CT, Barbara Zuraw-Friedland and her husband Peter of Mansfield Center, CT; sons Michael Zuraw and his wife Christine of Mesa, ASrizona and Robert Zuraw of Ansonia. She was the grandmother to Callie & Colin Burns, ASyla, Jediah & Levi Suraw-Friedland, Monica, Paige and Jakob Zuraw; sister to Phyllis Siglinger and sister-in-law to Nancy Donahue and Robert Daly. Mary had a loving niece Lisa King and other numerous caring nieces and nephews. She was born in Ansonia on August 17, 1932, daughter of the late Jeramiah & Mary Comerford Donahue. A communicant of The Church of the Assumption of Ansonia, she graduated from the Assumption school and Ansonia High School Class of 1949, Southern CT State U., Class of 1953 and earned an M.A. degree from the school in 1959. She taught in the Ansonia Public School System at Willis School and Lincoln-Hayes School until her retirement in 1994. She and her husband Bob spent their winters in Naples, FL.l Mary was predeceased by her sister Catherine Daly,k brother Jeremiah Donahue and sister-in-law Estelle Mennillo. The Jenkins-King Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Burial is in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia
