The Life of Andrew B. Spiwak

Andrew B. Spiwak, 82, beloved husband of Sadie Bushnell of Ansonia, died Friday, January 11, 2008 at CT Hospice, Branford. Born in Derby on November 2, 1925, he was the son of the late Frank and Stephania Behuniak Spiwak. Mr. Spiwak was a lifelong valley resident, a member of the CT Carpenter's Association and U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of Assumption Church, as well as an avid golfer and member of Hop Brook Country Club. In addition to his wife of seven years, he is survived by his devoted children, Maureen Snarski and her husband William of Arizona, Linda Komarowsky of Beacon Falls, Judith Struwas and her husband Michael of Seymour and John Spiwak and his wife, Jill of Beacon Falls; brothers, Max Spiwak of Derby and John Spiwak of Washington, D.C>; sister Esther Phair of Florida; grandchildren, Catherine Snarski of Arizona, Nicholas and Daniel Komarowsky, and Rachel and Jay Spiwak all of Beacon Falls. Mr. Spiwak was predeceased by his first wife of 43 years, Catherine Bashura Spiwak; brothers, Ted and Nick Spiwak; sisters, Heln Karasinski, Mary Richo and Ann Student. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday in Assumption Church, Ansonia. Interment with military honors will be in Pine Gorve Cemetery. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
