The Life of Steven Zavednak

Steven Zavednak, 93, of Derby, entered into rest on Sunday October 26, 2008 in his home with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of 67 years to Evelyn Zavednak. He was born in Ansonia on August 10, 1915, son of the late Terenti and Mary Dombrovska Zavednak, and was a Derby resident for 56 years. Mr. Zavednak was employed for many years by the UI Company until his retirement. He was an Army veteran serving during World War II in the European Theater, with the 4th Armored Division Corp of Engineers. He was a member of the former Windy Hill Club, Whizbangs Baseball Team both of Ansonia and the former Civilian Conservation Corp during the Depression. He was the beloved father of Steven T. Zavednak and his wife Carol, Joan Bestenbostel and her husband Kenneth, both of Seymour; loving grandfather of Robin and Christopher Headden and Jeffrey Bestenbostel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin brother, John Zavednak and four sisters, Anna Belko, Mary Kruge, Julie Horbal and Olga Wanciak. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday in Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. The Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, Derby is entrusted with the arrangements.>>
