The Life of Percy Paul Trahan
Funeral services will be held at a Saturday, February 20, 2021, at a 1:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pius X Catholic Church for Mr. Percy Paul "Blackie" Trahan, who passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment will be held in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rev. Steven C. LeBlanc will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the services. Lector will be Leah Trahan and the Giftbearers will be Beulah Vizena and Vicky Myers. The Eucharistic Minister will be Vicky Myers.
Survivors include two sisters, Gloria Trahan Duhon of Lafayette and Beulah Trahan Vizena (Kurt) of Mamou; one brother, Nason Trahan( Flo) of Maurice; sisters in law, Joanie Trahan, Mildred Picard and Eva Manuel, both of Lafayette, and Vicky Myers of Mire; and one brother in law, Edward Smith, Jr. of Mire.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Smith Trahan; one son, Lance Corporal Lex David Trahan; his parents, Woodley and Irene Lebert Trahan; one sister, Jewel Trahan Prejean; and three brothers, Patrick Rene Trahan, Perlis Trahan and Wilbur Trahan.
A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Blackie was the owner and operator of Blackie's Barber Shop for fifty five years. He was a member of the Louisiana National Guard and joined the Special Forces Chapter 81 in Breaux Bridge as a paratrooper.
Blackie was a Eucharistic Minister and Usher at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Prejean, Andrew Prejean, Jared Trahan, Derek Menard, Ryan Trahan and Rodney Forestier.
Visiting hours will be observed at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Friday from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time to leave for St. Pius X Catholic Church.
A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM in the funeral home.
The family asks that all abide with the State Mask Mandate and practice social distancing.
