The Life of Mr. Harold R. Kemp

Harold R. "Blackie" Kemp, 94, of District Township, died Monday, February 8, 2021, in Chestnut Knoll, Boyertown.  He was the widower of Elaine O. (Hilbert) Kemp, who died Nov. 13, 1987.  Born in Landis Store, Harold was a son of the late Clarence and Minerva (Hoffman) Kemp.  He was a member of Huff's Union Church, Alburtis.  

Blackie was  employed as a mill worker at the Boyertown Planing Mill, over 30 years until his retirement.  He was also a self-employed contractor, having built over 50 homes in the area.  

Harold is survived by a daughter, Karen M. (Kemp), wife of David A. Miller, Alburtis; and four sons: Harold C., husband of JoAnn (Shaner) Kemp, Oley; Glenn E., husband of MaryAnn Wilmot Kemp, Tampa, FL; Terry K., husband of Wanda L. (Hertzog) Kemp, Boyertown; Jesse H. Kemp, Alburtis.  There are ten grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Elaine and his parents, Blackie was predeceased by siblings: Charles, Kermit, Mabel (Kemp) Weller.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021, 12:00 - 2:00 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown.  There will be a private graveside service in Huffs Church Union Cemetery, officiated by his Pastor, Rev. Dr. Jennifer M. Bannerman.
