The Life of Mr. Edward R. Van De Car

Edward R. Van De Car, 72, of Maxatawny Township, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 4, 2021 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Donna L. (Dietrich) Van De Car whom he married on April 4, 1987.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Ed was a son of the late Rodney Van De Car and Anna (Gonzalez) Rail. He honorably and faithfully served his country in The United States Navy for four years during the Vietnam War. He then served in The Army National Guard for nine years. He was employed as an electrician by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., Lyons, working for 32 years until his retirement in 2010. 

Ed was a member of Zions Union Church of Maxatawny and was an avid fisherman. When his children were young, Ed served as a soccer and baseball coach and cub scout leader. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. 

In addition to his wife of 33 years, Donna, Ed is survived by his four children, Jennaver (Adams), wife of Theodore Scaffidi, Fleetwood, Jamie, husband of Erica (Schappell) Adams, Kutztown, Tanya (Van De Car), wife of Michael Quier, Blandon, and Tad, husband of Sarah (Wozniak) Van De Car, Litchfield Park, AZ; four grandchildren, Archer, Arden, Hunter and Colton; three sisters, Debra Treharne, Novi, MI, Shelly Rask, Hibbing, MN, and Dorothy Laird, Novi, MI; and a brother, Joseph Juntunen, Fleetwood. He was also predeceased by a brother, Donald Rail.

Services for Ed will be held privately by his family.
