Our boy...

Andrew is a caring, vibrant, and happy boy/young man.  Never had a bad thing to say about anyone, didn't have a bad/mean bone in his body.  He loved playing soccer and basketball and his friends and classmates remember him for his light and his smile.  He was a good student who had been accepted and earned scholarships from Loyola-New Orleans, Loyla Chicago, ODU, VCU, Catholic University, Marquette Univesity, JMU and St. John's Univeristy.  He will be missed by his family and friends, but we all know that his spirit is still with us.

My Boy

We are crushed to have lost our son at such an early age, but in the sadness there is light, the light that Andrew brought to our lives in his too short 18-years.  While Andrew is physcially no longer with us, he remains in our hearts and in thoughts every day.  His wry wit, quick smile, his sense of humor and his dedication to his crafts kept all of us in his family on our toes.

His teammates know him as one of the hardest working players on the field or the court and one who could roast another in an attempt to spur better play, but not before roasting himself when his play was lacking.  Andrew's soccer teams over the years were wildly successful and in his own words "we're not good."  During his final seasons in the Alexandria Soccer Association (ASA) recreation leagues, he anchored a defense, on team that we 28-2 over four seasons with two undefeated seasons and was voted "Most Valuable Teammate" in his final season.  When he advanced to "Travel Soccer" with the VISTA Team "Red Dragons" his team won the Sportamanship Award in the ODSL.  Transferring to the ASA Travel Soccer Program, Andrew anchored a defense that took 2nd Place in the Neptune Cup in Virginia Beach, VA.  During high school, Andrew resumed playing recreational soccer in ASA where he anchored the defense on a team that took 2nd place in the league.  While Andrew was middle school his basketball team at Blessed Sacrament came in 2nd in the regular season of his 8th grade year (2017-2018) and won the champioship in the tournament.

His classmates know him as quicked witted and hard working in the classroom, but many do not know that at around 7th grade he had to teach himself a different way to learn in certain subjects, subjects that had become almost too difficult for him to overcome.  Andrew succeeded wildly at this going to post a remarkable high school record of academic success at Bishop Ireton High School with several awards for most improved in Computer Science and Algebra 2 Trigonometry.

And, true to his work ethic, while in elementary school at Blessed Sacrament he won the St. Joseph the Worker award.

Andrew tried hard, very hard, to do his best at all that he attempted, whether is was skim-boarding or boogie boarding in Maine, skiing, bike riding, hiking, baseball, soccer, basketball, school, and being a good son and brother to his sister Charlotte.
