The Life of Alfred Clark

Alfred Erwin Clark, 88, of Florida and Cape Cod, a former Ansonia and longtime Orange resident, died April 8, 2009 in Arlington, VA. He was the husband of Sophie Malar Clark of Oakton, VA. Sone of the late Hannah Nina Clark, he was born Aug. 23, 1920 in Derby. Mr. Clark was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in Europe and Japan. He was a graduate of the University of New Haven and worked 40 years for Farrel Co. of Ansonia, retiring as a sales and service engineer overseeing international projects. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and gardening. Besides his wife, survivors include his daughter Pauline Gilbert and her husband Thomas, son A. David Clark and his wife Anne Powers; four grandchildren Christine Wilson, Alexandra Gilbert, Benjamin Clarkk and Jennifer Clark and a great-grandson Ronan Wilson. He was predeceased by his sister Nina Clark Thompson. Jenkins-King Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
