The Life of Walter Lewis Hawks

Walter Hawks, husband of Mrs. Alice Barrows Hawks, died unexpectedly shortly after midnight on April 19, 1952 at his home. He was born in Dutchess County, NY on April 16, 1893, the son of the late James and Lydia Terry Hawks and came to Ansonia about 50 years ago having lived here since that time. Mr. Hawks was self-employed in the painting and paper hanging business and of late as employed by Apex Tool Co. of Shelton. He was a member of the First Methodist Church. He was very well and favorably known here and in the associated communities and his sudden passing brings grief and sadness to a host of friends and acquaintances who held him in the highest esteem and regard. Besides his wife, Mr. Hawks is survivied by two daughters; Mrs. Joseph Lane of Ansonia and Mrs. Michael Gulluzzi of Brooklyn, NY; six sons, Donald, Floyde, Theodore, Kenneth, Warren and Gerald all of Ansonia; a brother James Edward Hawks of Ansonia; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday the 21st at 2 P.M. at the Leslie O. Jensen Funeral Home, 52 State Street. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
