The Life of Lorice Freije

Lorice Freije, 83, of Derby, passed away peacefully Tuesday August 5, 2008 at Griffin Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Nellie Hyder Freije. She was born in Ansonia, April 29, 1925. For more than 30 years, she worked as a lingerie buyer, retiring from Macy's in 1996. Lorice was past matron and member of The Martha Washington Chapter 32 Order of the Eastern Star for more than 60 years along with being a choir member of St. Nicholas Antiochian Church for 50 years. She cherished her family along with her beloved N.Y. Yankees. Her survivors include her three sisters, Evelyn and Phyllis Freije of Derby and Gloria Knowlton of Branford; a sister-in-law, Lillian Freije; nieces and nephews Siad Swan and his wife Susan, Barbara Walker and her husband Larry, Marcia Doran and her husband Brett; Susan Freije, Lisa Freije, (John) David Freije, (Siobhan) Deborah Knowlton, Cheryl Memmott and her husband Rich and several great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Swan and brother, Albert Freije. Funeral services will be Friday August 8th at the Nicholas Antiochian Church, Bridgeport. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. The Jenkins-King Funeral Home Ansonia is entrusted with the arrangements.
