The Life of Helen Klapik Scheibner

Helen Klapik Scheibner, 87, previously of Shelton, left this life as she lived it, with grace and dignity on Friday January 2, 2009. Helen was the beloved wife of 60 years to the late Curt A. Scheibner. She was born October 10, 1921 in Ansonia, the daughter of the late George and Mary Barna Klapik. Helen attended Shelton public schools, graduating in 1939 and was employed in various occupations at Slipco, Rasbach Photography and Shelton School Food Services. Helen was a caring and giving person who enjoyed people and loved her family. She was an avid gardener and an excellent cook, and she enjoyed traveling and a good game of cards. She loved animals and nature and always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. We will greatly miss her caring and love for us, her spirit and great courage to live on. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was predeceased by her broth, John G. Klapik. She is survived by her children, Irene Scheibner and her partner, Joan Twiggs of West Hartford and George Scheibner and his partner Valerie Robertson of Wilmington, N.C. She also leaves behind her many loving family members including cousins, Julia Hicks, Pauline Carroll and William and Mary Barna; as well as her sister-in-law Joan Klapik, all of Shelton and Olga Kudrikoff of Florida. Helen was fortunate to have many years of devoted friendship with Ray and Debbie Oppel and family of Shelton and the devoted and loving care of Sonia Davy of Hartford in her final years. Her funeral service will be Tuesday January 6th at Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church Ansonia. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
