The Life of Jean Cummings Jaekle

Jean Cummings Jaekle, a 100 year old Seymour resident and beloved wife of the late Otto C. Jaekle, passed away peacefully at Shady Knoll Health Center in Seymour, September 27, 2009. She was born November 30, 1908 at ASberdeen, Scotland, the daughter of Alexander and Jeannie Wiseman Cummings. She was a resident of Ansonia and Seymour for most of her 97 years in Connecticut. Jean was predeceased by five brothers and their spouses as well as two of her three sons, Donald E. Jaekle and his wife, Ann and Richard C. Jaekle and a grandson, Richard C. Jaekle Jr. Jean is survived by two brothers, George L. Cummings of Spring Hill, FL and Donald M. Cummings and his wife Marion of Woodbury; daughter-in-law Regina Jaekle of Watertown and her son Robert C. Jaekle of Seymour and Bangkok, Thailand, as well as five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Jean was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ansonia for 80 years and was active in many church projects over the years, most recently belonging to the Episcopal Church Women group. For more than 45 years she enjoyed her bingo day at the Ansonia Senior Center as well as group travel and handicraft activities sponsored by the center. Until two months ago, Jean was an active, vibrant person and remained "sharp as a tack" until her passing. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
