The Life of William Evans

William J. "Fessy" Evans Sr., 72, husband of Joanne Lotto Evans of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening August 19, 2009 at the Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Mr. Evans was born in Waterbury April 20, 1937 son of the late Otto and Grace Burness Spitzschuh. A resident of Ansonia for more thanb 40 years he was employed as an expediter at the Farrel Corporation in Ansonia and Derby for more than 30 years. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, honorably serving during the Korean War. Bill was bery active in Ansonia serving 23 1/2 consecutive years on the Board of Education, two years as a third ward alderman, member of the Board of Public Works and the Republican Town Committee, former coard for Ansonia youth baseball and former member of the Eagle Hose & Hook & Ladder Co. Fessy was also an avid Boston Red Sox Fan. Besides his wife Joanne, he is survived by two sons, William J. Evans Jr. and his wife Susan of Wolcott and Robert C. Evans and his wife Amy of Ansonia; a brother William Spitzschuh (Joan) of Deepo River; a sister Sheila Connolly of NOrth Branford; two cherished granddaughters Skylar and Kendall Evans of Ansonia and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by a sister Florence Gianelli. Spinelli-Ricciuti Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Burial with military honors will be in Pine Grove Cemetery Ansonia.
