The Life of Ingrid Wakeling

Ingrid E. Hultin Wakeling,90 year old and longtime Ansonia resident  died Friday January 9, 2009 in Quincy, MA. She was bornApril 5, 1918 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Carl & Ida Swanson Ostrom. Her first eight years were speent in Bethany with her family moving to Ansonia when she was in the third grade.   She graduated from Ansonia's elementary school and  High School and attended Ansonia Business College. She worked as a secretary for Farrel Corp. and was a member of the First United Methodist Church 47 Franklin Street  Ansonia where she taught Sunday School. Ingrid never forgot the shocking announcement on the radio, while having dinneer at her brother's fiance's home with her future husband, that Pearl Harbor had just been bombed. O the news, made more stunniing and graphic by the medium of television, of President kennedy's assassination.  Her fondest memories were always of family gatherings with "no one missing".  She is survived by her son Carl Hultin of Evans, GA, daughter Karen Garlock of Cheshire and sister Vivian Benham of Southbury, four grand and three great grandchildred. She was predeceased by her brothers, David and George Ostrom and sister Ruth Draugelis. She was also predeceased by her husbands Harry Hultin and Norman Wakeling. Funeral services will be held at 12 NOON, Friday January 16, 2009 from Jenkins-King Funeral Home, (jenkinskingfh.com) 12 Franklin Street Ansonia with Rev. Enock Yatri of the First United Methodist Churh officiating.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.  Friends may call Friday, 10 am to 12 before the service begins.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Ingrid's memory may be made to her church.
